Gryfno privacy policy
In short
Gryfno collects no personal data. The game has no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and it sends nothing to us. Everything the game saves stays on your device.
The game runs on Android phones and tablets and comes from Google Play or from Huawei AppGallery. Most of this policy applies to both versions; parts that apply to only one of them say so in their heading or first sentence.
Data controller
Olaf Rzepka, e-mail: kontakt [at] radiska [dot] eu. Since the game collects no data, in practice this only concerns messages you send us.
What the game saves on your device
- saved puzzles: your marks on the grid, the moves to undo and the time;
- progress: solved puzzles with the date and the solving time (streaks and statistics come from them), skipped Practice puzzles and the puzzles that stay available in the free version;
- settings: showing mistakes, sounds, the rules you have seen and your last choice in Practice;
- whether the full version has been bought, so that it works without the internet;
- a picture of your result, only when you share it (described below).
Deleting the game or clearing its data in Android’s settings deletes all its data from your device.
Backups
The game uses Android’s standard backup: if it is turned on, your saved puzzles, progress and settings may be stored in your backup in your Google Account or when moving your data to a new device, and restored when you reinstall the game or on a new device. The purchase information (the purchase comes back from your store account) and the result pictures are not backed up. You and Google manage this backup, and we have no access to it. You can turn it off in Android’s settings (usually Settings → System → Backup).
On Huawei devices without Google services, the same game data may be included in a Huawei backup (in HUAWEI Cloud or in a backup made with the Backup app), if you use one. You and Huawei manage this backup, and we have no access to it either.
Sharing your result
The game shares nothing by itself. Only when you tap Share after solving a puzzle does it open Android’s usual sharing sheet with a short text (such as “Gryfno · Stars #127 · 1:42” and a link to the game on our website) and, for a daily puzzle, also a picture: a card with the puzzle’s name and number, the date, the level, your time, your streak and the starting grid, lightly blurred. The card holds none of your moves, no solution, no name and no data about your device.
You choose the app and the recipient; from there on, the result is subject to that app’s rules. The game uses no accounts and no social network libraries. It saves the picture for a moment in its cache on your device and lets only the sharing sheet and the app you choose read it; the next time you share, it deletes the previous one.
Full version purchase
Today’s puzzles and those of the 7 days before are free; a one-time purchase of the full version unlocks the whole archive, Practice, statistics and future kinds of puzzles.
Google Play
Google handles the purchase on Google Play, under its own privacy policy. We don’t receive your card details, your Google Account details or any information about who you are. The game connects to Google Play through Google’s Play Billing Library: when you start or return to the game, it checks whether the full version has been bought, and when you ask, it shows the price, makes the purchase or restores purchases. Google may process data about the purchase and the service’s operation under its own policy. The game remembers the store’s last answer on your device, so that the full version works without the internet. The legal basis for processing data in the purchase is the performance of the contract you ask for by buying the full version (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
From Google we receive sales reports with the order details needed for accounting (such as the order number, date, amount and the buyer’s country), with no payment details.
Huawei AppGallery
Huawei handles the purchase in AppGallery, through the HUAWEI In-App Purchases service in HMS Core, under its own privacy policy. We don’t receive your card details, your Huawei account details or any information about who you are. The game connects to HMS Core through the HMS Core IAP SDK: when you start or return to the game, it checks whether the full version has been bought, and when you ask, it shows the price, makes the purchase or restores purchases. This needs the HMS Core app and a signed-in Huawei account; on devices from manufacturers other than Huawei, the SDK may start the HMS Core app, which shows the payment screen. The game checks Huawei’s signature on the purchase confirmation on your device and remembers the store’s last answer, so that the full version works without the internet. The legal basis for processing data in the purchase is the performance of the contract you ask for by buying the full version (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Third-party SDK: HMS Core IAP SDK; provider: Huawei Software Technologies Co., Ltd.; data collected: transaction information (purchase records); purpose: to deliver the payment services; retention at Huawei: 7 years. Details are in Huawei’s IAP SDK Privacy and Security Statement.
The SDK includes basic HMS Core modules, among them modules for statistics on how the SDK works. According to the HMS Core Privacy Statement, Huawei collects through them, for the security and stability of its services, their improvement and settling bills with app developers, information about how the game uses HMS Core: the device identifier, the package name and app identifier, error logs, the time of calls, the network type and carrier, the device type and country, the system version, information about the functions called and the device’s security status. This data goes to Huawei, not to us.
From Huawei we receive the order details needed for accounting (such as the order number, date and amount), with no payment details.
Permissions
The game asks the system only for these permissions:
- full network access (INTERNET) and view network connections (ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE): to connect to the store (Google Play or, in the AppGallery version, HMS Core);
- Google Play billing service (com.android.vending.BILLING, only in the Google Play version): to buy the full version and check whether it has been bought; the AppGallery version doesn’t have this permission, because HMS Core handles the purchase there.
The game doesn’t ask for access to your location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, notifications or nearby devices. Apart from the connection to the store (to Google Play, or through HMS Core to AppGallery), it doesn’t use the internet: it has no servers of its own and sends nothing to us.
Ads, analytics and third-party libraries
The game has no ads, no analytics and no tracking tools. Both versions use Google’s Jetpack (AndroidX) libraries and JetBrains’ Kotlin libraries to run the game and save data on your device, which send nothing. For the purchase, the Google Play version uses the Play Billing Library, and the AppGallery version uses the HMS Core IAP SDK with basic HMS Core modules, which pass Huawei information about the use of HMS Core (both described above). The AppGallery version has no Play Billing Library and no Google Play services.
Crash reports
In the Google Play version: if sharing usage and diagnostics data is turned on in your device’s settings, Google may pass anonymous crash reports and stability data of the game to us in the Google Play Console. This is a system setting, not the game’s.
The AppGallery version includes no crash reporting tools (such as AppGallery Connect Crash), so we don’t receive crash reports from Huawei.
When you write to us, we receive your e-mail address and your message. We use them only to answer and resolve your request, based on our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), and keep them only as long as needed. Our e-mail runs on Apple’s iCloud service.
You have the right to access, rectify and erase your data, to restrict its processing and to object, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in Poland: the President of the Personal Data Protection Office).
Children
The game collects no data from anyone, children included. A purchase by a child may need a parent’s approval: on Google Play if a parent has turned on purchase approvals, and on AppGallery under the restrictions of a Huawei child account, if a parent has set them.
Changes
When the game gets features that involve data, we will update this policy before they are released and change the date at the top of the page. If the language versions differ, the Polish version prevails.
