Paper Soccer privacy policy
In short
Paper Soccer collects no personal data. The game has no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and it sends nothing to us. Everything the game saves stays on your device.
The game runs on iPhone, iPad and Mac (from the App Store) and on Android phones and tablets (from Google Play). Most of this policy applies to both versions; sections that apply to only one of them say so in their title.
Data controller
Olaf Rzepka, e-mail: kontakt [at] radiska [dot] eu. Since the game collects no data, in practice this only concerns messages you send us.
What the game saves on your device
- settings, such as hints, animations and sounds;
- unfinished games, separately for each game mode;
- statistics;
- on iPhone, iPad and Mac, also the data for playing on two devices (described below);
- on Android, also whether the full version is unlocked, so that it works without the internet.
You can reset the statistics in the game, and deleting the game deletes all its data from your device.
Backups
On iPhone, iPad and Mac, the game’s data may be included in your device’s backup (for example in iCloud), which you and Apple manage.
On Android, the game uses the system’s standard backup: if Android backup is turned on, the game’s data (settings, unfinished games, statistics and whether the full version is unlocked) may be stored in your backup in your Google Account and restored when you reinstall the game or set up a new device. You and Google manage this backup, and we have no access to it. You can turn it off in Android’s settings (usually Settings → System → Backup).
iPhone, iPad and Mac only: playing on two devices
For now, playing on two devices is only in the version for iPhone, iPad and Mac. For this feature the game also saves on your device the undo setting and your name in these games, your opponents’ names in the statistics, and a random identifier created by the game, so that the right device comes back after the connection drops. The identifier is not tied to your hardware or to you.
When you create a game, your device announces it nearby over Wi-Fi, with your name in the game and the game’s settings; devices nearby that have the list of games open can see it. The connection runs directly between the two devices, with no server and no internet. The other device receives only:
- your name in the game: the device model (such as “iPhone”) or the name you entered in the game’s settings;
- random identifiers of the game and the device;
- the moves and the state of the game.
None of it reaches us. For this feature the system asks for access to the local network; you can withdraw it in Settings (Privacy & Security → Local Network).
Full version purchase
App Store (iPhone, iPad, Mac)
Apple handles the purchase in the App Store, under its own privacy policy. We don’t receive your payment details or any information about who you are. The game only checks on your device whether the full version has been bought. From Apple we receive only aggregate sales reports, with no buyers’ data.
Google Play (Android)
Google handles the purchase on Google Play, under its own privacy policy. We don’t receive your card details, your Google Account details or any information about who you are. The game connects to Google Play through Google’s Play Billing Library: when you start or return to the game, it checks whether the full version has been bought, and when you ask, it shows the price, makes the purchase or restores purchases. Google may process data about the purchase and the service’s operation under its own policy. The game remembers the store’s last answer on your device, so that the full version works without the internet.
From Google we receive sales reports with the order details needed for accounting (such as the order number, date, amount and the buyer’s country), with no payment details.
Android only: permissions
The Android version asks the system only for the permissions that Google’s Play Billing Library needs for purchases on Google Play:
- full network access (INTERNET) and view network connections (ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE): to connect to Google Play;
- Google Play billing service (com.android.vending.BILLING): to buy the full version and check whether it has been bought.
The game doesn’t ask for access to your location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone or nearby devices. Apart from the connection to Google Play, it doesn’t use the network.
Ads, analytics and third-party libraries
The game has no ads, no analytics and no tracking tools, in either version. The version for iPhone, iPad and Mac uses no third-party libraries. The Android version uses Google libraries: Jetpack (AndroidX) to display the game and save its settings, which send nothing, and the Play Billing Library for the purchase, described above.
Crash reports
On iPhone, iPad and Mac: if you agree in your device’s settings to share data with app developers (Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements), Apple may pass anonymous crash reports of the game to us. This is a system setting, not the game’s.
On Android: if sharing usage and diagnostics data is turned on in your device’s settings, Google may pass anonymous crash reports and stability data of the game to us in the Google Play Console. This too is a system setting, not the game’s.
When you write to us, we receive your e-mail address and your message. We use them only to answer and resolve your request, based on our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), and keep them only as long as needed. Our e-mail runs on Apple’s iCloud service.
You have the right to access, rectify and erase your data, to restrict its processing and to object, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in Poland: the President of the Personal Data Protection Office).
Children
The game collects no data from anyone, children included. A purchase by a child may need a parent’s approval: in the App Store through Family Sharing, and on Google Play when a parent has turned on purchase approvals.
Changes
When the game gets features that involve data (such as playing on two devices on Android, Game Center or syncing through iCloud), we will update this policy before they are released and change the date at the top of the page. If the language versions differ, the English version prevails.
